Gabriel Grossi was described by harmonica legend Toots Thielemans as his successor, and he collaborated with many Brazilain greats. He gives his own unique twist to Brazilian music history, from composers such as Heitor Villa-Lobos and Pixinguinha to pop, folk and contemporary jazz; for example, as part of the Hamilton de Holanda Quinteto. He loves to cross boundaries, playing with the likes of Snarky Puppy, Dave Matthews, Anat Cohen and Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103). In his own band he plays with a seasoned Brazilian rhythm section and saxophone giant Seamus Blake. ‘The way in which his playing enriches the music is a delight for the ear’ (Written in Music).
