Fleurine is back on her native soil for a performance with her dream band, which she formed in her hometown of New York. Her Brazilian band members played there with big names such as Bebel Gilberto, Milton Nascimento and Kurt Rosenwinkel. They alternate their own songs with Brazilian classics, for an evening full of blistering bossa, baião, samba and jazz.
Brazilian Dream, the recent album by Fleurine and her band, was nominated for an Edison. The album and the new single Nos Bracos do Forro are dedicated to Estrela da Favela, a school in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, where 95% of the proceeds go to.
Over the past 25 years, Fleurine has worked with Roy Hargrove, Lee Konitz and Brad Mehldau, among others. She made 5 successful albums with, among others, Christian McBride, Chris Potter, Peter Bernstein, Chico Pinheiro and Jeff Ballard. In the Netherlands she has worked with the Metropole Orkest, Jesse van Ruller, Rita Reys and Peter Beets, among others.
