Muisc for the millions

As one of the great Dutch jazz drummers Joost Patocka has taken the opportunity to form his own band with unique and established players. Singer Francien van Tuinen and guitarist Jesse van Ruller have been at the Dutch jazz top for years.

Saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis has experienced his international breakthrough with the band Bruut!, and bassist Phil Donkin is a household name in British jazz. Joost hand-picked the music that influenced his playing, from Monk to Marsalis and from Miles to Mengelberg.

In the past 30 years Joost Patocka has performed with, among others, the trio of saxophonist Benjamin Herman, with vocalists Rita Reys, Francien van Tuinen and Ruben Hein, with saxophone giants Piet Noordijk and Branford Marsalis, in the trio of guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and, of course, in the band he co-founded with his drumming colleague Stefan Kruger, called Krupa & The Genes.
