Debashish Bhattacharya carries raga in his blood: his parents as ell as his sister are singers in the North-Indian tradition, and his brother plays table and other rhythmic instruments. Coming from a classical Hindustani background, Debashish has developed his own style on a remarkable instrument: the slide guitar. This originally Hawaiian instrument has been popular in India for a period of time and Debashish started playing one at the age of 3. Currently he has developed three of his own versions of the instrument, with which he can reflect a broad range of moods, from relaxing to sensual and exciting. Previously he has collaborated with illustrious colleagues such as electric guitar hero John McLaughlin and dobro master Jerry Douglas.
