Exciting combinations of standards and pop

Twenty years ago Brad Mehldau played at the BIMHUIS for the first time and since then he has developed into the most influential jazz pianist of his generation. It was he who for the first time combined standards with daring interpretations of songs by Radiohead and Nirvana, in compelling concerts with a narrative character.

In his performances, Mehldau combines his classical background with his love for catchy melodies and daring experiments. Now he returns for two evenings with his regular trio, featuring double bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard . They too are regarded as leading players in the contemporary jazz world.
