The Netherlands Jazz Archive presents an exciting concert with the cream of Dutch jazz such as Dutch Swing College Band, with music by Misha Mengelberg and ICP Kwintet, with music by Sean Bergin. Three generations of alto sax players will pay tribute to their former teacher Peter Guidi, who passed away last year: Benjamin Herman, Ben van Gelder and Mo van der Does. Harpist Remy van Kesteren will perform with pianist/composer Martin Fondse. Also, the big band of Conservatorium van Amsterdam led by Erik van Lier will perform music by arrangers Jerry van Rooijen and Rob Pronk. Guest soloist is singer Roos Jonker. Tonight’s proceeds will be donated to the Dutch Jazz Archive, which is actively being supported by a passionate audience since losing government funding in 2013. The Netherlands Jazz Archive keeps jazz history alive by releasing music, the Jazz Bulletin magazine and interviews on the website jazzhelden.nl. The institution supervises a collection with thousands of music albums, photographs and other historical documents, but has also made the news; its high quality CD releases have won three Edison awards to date.
