Amsterdam klezmer meets worldly folk jazz

The warm voice of Monica Akihary and the inventive guitar playing of Niels Brouwer form the basis of Boi Akih, in which jazz, folk and Melanesian music naturally coincide. On the one hand in songs, with texts by Akihary and compositions by Brouwer, and on the other hand in imaginative improvisations. The Amsterdam Klezmer Band has been around for more than 25 years.

Founded in Café De Nieuwe Lelie by frontman Job Chajes and bassist Jasper de Beer, the band grew into a multi-piece formation with a magnificent live reputation, from Paradiso and the Concertgebouw to Sziget and Lowlands.
