Two momentous and challenging sonatas for violin and piano are on this program: Bartók's 1st sonata and the notorious "Kreutzer" sonata by Beethoven. Rudolphe Kreutzer, to whom Beethoven eventually dedicated this sonata, even refused to play the piece because he considered it "outrageously unintelligible". Violinist Emma Roijackers & pianist Aidan Mikdad take up the challenge and show why this beautiful sonata is one of the most famous sonatas in the repertoire today. At the Oosterkerk in Amsterdam. Admission free, but donations are welcome.
