The Elias String Quartet
The Elias String Quartet consists of the sisters Sara and Marie Bitlloch, the Scottish Donald Grant and the Dutch Simone van der Giessen. The quartet released a lyrically received Schumann CD as well as the sixth part of their Beethoven cycle.
Collaboration with Sally Beamish
Elias has a successful collaboration with composer Sally Beamish. During the concert on May 27, the ensemble will bring a special, tailor-made piece: Reed Stanzas. This piece, the third string quartet written especially for the ensemble by Sally Beamisch, premiered at the BBC Proms to great acclaim.
The Elias also plays: a string quartet by Joseph Haydn, opus 33 no. 5 and by Ludwig van Beethoven, string quartet in A opus 132, a 'late' Beethoven.
