In the middle of autumn, Photonen vocal ensemble and conductor Jeroen Spitteler present Edge of Eternity, a fine programme with a cappella choir music from several periods. Beautiful, melancholic, pensive and comforting music, opening ones heart and soul.

The polyphony of the six-part requiem mass Officium Defunctorum from 1603 by Tomás Luis de Victoria is a pivotal part of the programme, which will be interspersed with surprising compositions such as Gustavo Trujillo's Stemmen ('Voices') written for Photonen on texts by Willem Jan Otten and Kavafis. Furthermore romantic choir music will be sung: Nachtlied by Max Reger and Abendlied by Josef Rheinberger and several special, more recent works by David Lang, Einojuhani Rautavaara and the Latvian composer Eriks Ešenvalds. Photonen performs Ešenvalds' almost astral sounding Stars, in which singing and chords by water-toned glasses create an apparently limitless space.
