Irish piano talent

Seán Morgan-Rooney is from County Down in Northern Ireland. As a soloist, Seán has performed with several Irish symphony orchestras, including the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra. He recently made his recital debut in the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where he performed Liszt's Sonata in B minor.


Seán studied with John O'Conor at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. He then completed his bachelor studies with Professor Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London and later his master studies with David Kuyken at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He was the first student to receive an Artist Certificate at this institute.


Seán received the Charles J. Brennan Prize at the 10th International Piano Competition in Dublin and this year he is one of the four laureates of the prestigious prize “Dutch Classical Talent.”
