From Hades to Mephisto’s hell

The ancient Greeks’ multifaceted Hades, as seen through the eyes of Stravinsky – which only the musician Orpheus could ever enter alive. The underworld that’s inhabited by the devil, in Liszt’s first Mephisto Waltz, also known as Der Tanz in der Dorfschenke (The Dance in the Village Inn). And, in a Dutch premiere, the underworld how Adès sees it himself, in his new ballet Inferno, commissioned by the RCO.
