On the eve of 4 May The Hoofdstadkoor sings the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé. Basis for this Requiem is the Gregorian requiem. The composition is, however, rather calm and reflective than sad.
The songs after the break express that hope for peace and friendship. Very special is the composition Pulchra Mater by the contemporary composer and soloist Emma Brown. From Henryk Górecki you will hear part of the Symphony of sorrowful Songs, in commemoration of those who died during the Holocaust.
