Hiromi is like a whirlwind at the piano with a unique personal style. This classical prodigy from Japan was discovered in the jazz world because of her fabulous improvisations. With her dazzling playing and her catchy, melodic compositions she brings down the house like a true rock star. In her solo performances she displays a whole range of emotions, purely with music. ‘I don’t want to put a name on my music, other people can put a name on what I do’, says Hiromi Uehara, who draws inspiration from ‘everyone who has big, big energy.’ Some compare her to the great 19th century piano virtuosos, but her jazz mentors Chick Corea and Ahmad Jamal have always championed Hiromi as an artist in a league of her own.
