Close-up: 200 years of Clara Schumann

A celebrated concert pianist of her time and a gifted composer undeserving of the fact that most attention went to her husband Robert, Clara Schumann wrote works that have stood the test of time. Performed by a piano quintet comprising members of the RCO, tonight’s programme focuses on the influence of Bach on Schumann and other composers, such as contemporary master Sofia Gubaidulina.
