The Organ Symphony

Partly thanks to the Top 40 hit If I had Words by Yvonne Keeley and Scott Fitzgerald, the main theme from the symphony became world famous. Yet the work is not often performed because of the large ensemble: large orchestra, piano four hands and organ. Saint-Saëns, himself an organist, was very satisfied with his symphony. It became his last symphony and he dedicated it to his friend composer Franz Liszt.

The new, young orchestra SoundWave Collective conducted by Libia Hernandez and organist Geerten van de Wetering have taken the initiative to perform this grand symphony in the context of the Saint-Saëns anniversary year. They will play all the colors of orchestra and organ this evening! Tickets are available via the Podium21 website.
