About the pianists

Mike del Ferro is an award-winning pianist and world traveler from Amsterdam. He has performed in 117 countries and collaborated with jazz legends such as Toots Thielemans, Jack DeJohnette, Randy Brecker and Branford.

The Dutch pianist and composer Jeroen van Veen is seen as 'the leading exponent of minimalism' in the Netherlands. Jeroen started playing the piano at the age of 7. He has won many awards and performed all over the world.

Mike del Ferro and Jeroen van Veen start the evening with a musical accompaniment to the Buster Keaton film Steamboat Billy from 1928, followed by a Canto Ostinato .

Canto Ostinato is a composition, created and intended as an 'open scenario' for several instruments (composer Simeon Holt). It includes different degrees of freedom. Not only in the number of repetitions, but also in terms of shifts in emphasis and dynamic contrasts.
