Amsterdam Halloween Festival: bloody good

With a list of events longer than Jason’s hit list, you’re in for a grizzly feast of Halloween action courtesy of Amsterdam Spook, who are once again pulling out all the sickening stops for the awesomely occult occasion. And this year, you're in for even more of a treat (as well as a few tricks), as you're invited to shake them bones at not one but two costume parties: Toyland (28 October) and the Helter Skelter Halloween Party (31 October).

Having trouble coming up with a frightful costume? Let Amsterdam Spook and their Drop Dead Gory makeup workshops take care of everything while they transform your face into the stuff of nightmares. If you prefer (or dare), you can brave an all-night horror movie marathon at Pathé Tuschinski on 28 October (Halloween Horror Show), and there's even the I Want Candy kids' party (29 October) at the Hard Rock Café for the little horrors. There's also a chance to celebrate this year's All Hallow's Eve at Ripley's, Believe it or Not! (29-31 October), giving all a chance to immerse themselves in a world of curiosities, creativity and intrigue.

Halloween Costume Party

A highlight of the festival is the annual Halloween Party, held at the Tolhuistuin (Paradiso Noord). This year's theme is Toyland, but we're definitely not talking child's play here. Get ready to see your childhood toys in a whole new light, as they come out to play to unleash their bloody revenge. Jigsaw meets Barbie and Chucky comes to play, but one thing's for sure: you'll never look at toys in the same way again.

Head to the Amsterdam Halloween Festival website for complete programme information, costume inspiration and Halloween tips.
