Restless Matter

An exhibition about materialism in art and our changing relationship with the material world and is connected to one of today’s most relevant debates about the future of our planet: how does the ever-advancing technology affect humanity? Does the horizon of our anthropocentric worldview come into view? These questions, prompted by crises like climate change and global inequality as the result of global capitalism artists to look into alternative scenarios for our relationship with nature, matter and objects, and look beyond the horizon of human presence on earth.

Restless Matter includes recent projects by contemporary artists like Egill Sæbjörnsson, Wong Ping, Thierry Oussou, Nina Canell and Shana Moulton in dialogue with modern works by CoBrA artists such as Karel Appel, Constant, Asger Jorn and their post-war European avant-garde colleagues Pinot-Gallizio, Jean Dubuffet, Antoni Tàpies and CoBrA related artists Jaap Wagemaker and Bram Bogart.
