Puppet theatre on the Dam

The Dam is the iconic spot in the Netherlands where the classic puppet show Jan Klaassenspel has been screened for centuries. Janus Cabalt, who was granted the first license on the Dam in 1894, taught the craft of puppeteering to others in the city. During this Amsterdam tour at the Amsterdam City Archive from 26 June to 9 September, children and adults can meet the historical puppets Jan Klaassen and Katrijn and discover their connection with Amsterdam, and learn how the puppet theatre has changed over the past 125 years.
