Passages brings together a substantial body of work by Chantal Akerman. Born in Belgium, Chantal Akerman rose to fame in the 1970s with her avant-garde approach to film-making coupled with feminism. A child of Holocaust survivors from Poland, she was quick to begin her career dropping out of a Belgian film school to make a film funded by trading shares on the Antwerp stock exchange. Along with a number of installations, there’s also a separate film programme showcasing her groundbreaking work.
