Original illustrations by Annemarie van Haeringen
Dive into the world of Beer is on butterfly, Kleine Ezel and Olifantje and admire the original illustrations by one of the most awarded Dutch illustrators: Annemarie van Haeringen. The Allard Pierson Museum shows a thematic selection of her drawings, which are characterized by their very own sense of colour, line, composition and expression and are loved by children and their (grand)parents.
Fascination with animals
As a child, Annemarie van Haeringen drew the many animals that inhabited her parental home at Artis, during her training at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Van Haeringen's fascination with animals has never disappeared. Elephants, donkeys and her own two goats, for example, regularly feature in her work. Fairytale characters such as dragons and monsters are also common. Based on 11 different themes, the exhibition shows the making process and development of these beloved characters.
Children can look for all, also hidden, drawings of elephants in the exhibition.
