Modern Perspectives

The City Archives has a real treat for fans of moving image, still photography and Amsterdam. Modern Perspectives places the focus squarely on Amsterdam in the 1920s and 1930s, a time when film was a burgeoning medium that captured the essence of the city. Featuring photographs and a selection of film fragments by 35 international photographers of the time, the images provide a fascinating insight into the city as it was back then and showcases creativity. See work by Joris Ivens, Germaine Krull, Erwin Blumenfeld and Eva Besnyö among many others.
