Since 2016, when artist Loes Koomen decided to devote herself full-time to painting, her career has really taken off. The contrast between the perfection of the forms on the one hand and the messy application of the paint here and there on the other hand appeals to a sense of human imperfection that gives the work ‘soul’. The great appeal of Koomen’s paintings lies in a number of themes such as freedom and (in)tolerance, wanting to belong to something or dropping out – themes that are rooted in the 60s and nowadays are more topical than ever.

'Room To Move' is presented in Salon Bart, on the first floor of Galerie Bart, in a domestic setting including furniture and ambient lighting. The exhibition is made possible in collaboration with Klerkx International Art Management.
