Animal suffering is of all times

Hansken's story is wonderful, but also poignant. She has endured a lot in her life; she was forced to make long journeys and had to perform a lot. This exhibition also highlights contemporary perspectives on animal suffering .

Hansken, Rembrandt's elephant shows drawings and etchings by Rembrandt and his contemporaries, paintings and a digital map on which you can follow Hansken's route through Europe. Special is the fact that Hansken's skull has been preserved and is being brought from Italy to the Rembrandt House especially for this exhibition.
