This installation features archival documents, letters, multimedia elements, and recent family portraits to tell the story of the Herman family. The project started after photographer and artist Sarah Mei Herman discovered a box of photos taken by her grandfather Mordechai. Together with his youngest brother, he ran a photography studio called Foto Germano in Kaunas, Lithuania before World War II. It’s not just a history of the studio but also an ode to Tonia Levin, a Holocaust survivor.
