‘A Song Called Hate’ is  documentary revolving around Hatari, the Icelandic performance art group which made headlines at Eurovision Song Festival in 2019 in Israel. After a stunt that went a little too far, they are selected to represent the country at the 2019 Song Contest with their provocative mix of bondage-pop, techno-punk and industrial-goth. Director Anna Hildur and producers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (‘Nick Cave: 20,000 Days on Earth’) follow the group from Reykjavik to Tel Aviv where they do exactly what the organizers don’t want: to politicize the non-political event. Faced with the pressing political context of the Israel-Palestine conflict, Hatari resolve to do something; to try to make a difference.
