Milestone for a whole generation
The performances came at a time when the UK was slowly but surely crawling out of a long recession. A wave of confidence in its own art and culture, dubbed the 'Cool Britannia', spread across the country: Oasis' rise reflected this newfound self-confidence.
With a set list packed with absolute hits such as Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, the two days at Knebworth were both a pinnacle of the band's success and a milestone for an entire generation. Oasis Knebworth 1996 tells the story of that weekend, and of the special bond between Oasis and its fans. This story is told through the eyes of these fans, as well as through additional interviews with the band and the concert organizers.
Director Jake Scott compiled the film from hours of concert footage and never-before-seen footage. An exuberant and at times poignant cinematic celebration of one of the most important concerts of the past 25 years.
