The monumental building Plancius is the beautiful home of the Resistance Museum Amsterdam. The visitor can feel the atmosphere of the war years during his walk through the Netherlands before, during and just after the war.

A decor of recreated streets and wall-filling color photos is combined with original objects and image and sound material. You can see how the atmosphere becomes increasingly grim during the occupation. Oppression and resistance, on the other hand, are becoming more and more noticeable.

Helping people in hiding, the illegal press and forging papers are becoming a day job for a small minority of the Dutch population. Their personal stories illustrate the dilemmas and choices they and others faced. In addition to the permanent display, the Resistance Museum also has approximately five changing exhibitions each year.

Junior Resistance Museum

Since the end of 2013, a special part of the museum for children has been opened: Resistance Museum Junior. Here children follow the true experiences of four children from the war.
