Water mill 1200 Roe

Not many people are aware that the city of Amsterdam has 8 windmills - one of them being Water mill 1200 Roe. This octagonal windmill was originally used to keep the Osdorperbinnenpolder swamp area dry. It had this function until around 1950, when it was no longer necessary. Water mill 1200 Roe is now owned by the city of Amsterdam and is permanently inhabited.
