Slot Zuylen is one of the most ancient castles situation on the Vecht river, just outside of Utrecht. The castle has a rich family history with influential residents, one of the most prominent being the feminist writer Belle van Zuylen.
In its museum, Slot Zuylen exhibits how the nobility of Utrecht lived
from the 13
th century onward; occupants included knights, dukes and duchesses
as well as prominent political figures. To this day, the castle grounds are impeccably
groomed to host open air events and public gatherings. If you wish to discover
the gardens, there are guided tours and hikes frequently scheduled. Themed
exhibitions take place on a rotating basis, and a museum café that occupies the
carriage house is open daily.
