A public square overlooking the city is what architect Renzo Piano envisioned when he designed the NEMO Science Museum building. His vision has been a huge success. NEMO Science Museum has the largest roof terrace in all Amsterdam, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the historic city centre, 22 metres above water level.
Spectacular views
The roof has a charming café and plenty of space to sit back, relax and enjoy a drink. During the summer months, children can even play in the cascade (from June 30).
Opening times and access to the roof
The roof is open every day from 10.00 to 17.30. As long as corona measures apply, the roof will only be accessible free of charge to museum visitors (drink or snack is mandatory). If you do not have a museum ticket, you must pay a €3.50 entrance fee. This amount includes a beverage of your choice from the bar on presentation of your entrance ticket. Entrance tickets for the rooftop terrace can only be purchased halfway up the stairs on the east side of the building. You do not need to make a reservation for your visit to the roof.
There is no access to the roof in inclement weather, during special events, at New Year and on King’s Day.
