From Scheepvaarthuis to five-star deluxe hotel: Amrâth!

In 2007, Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam opened its doors to guests who will temporarily stay in "Het Scheepvaarthuis" where the public first became acquainted with the new headquarters of the NV "Het Scheepvaarthuis" in 1916 and where they booked a trip by sea. Shipping house".

The striking building, a national monument since 1974, is a special example of the expressionist "Amsterdam School" architectural style. Down to the smallest detail, in the most expensive materials, well-known architects, sculptors and stained glass artists express the history of our seafaring in a related symbolism.

The Scheepvaarthuis is therefore a "Gesamtkunstwerk", in which the Amsterdam history of the rich shipping past is depicted as an architecture parlante (picture story). The exterior evokes associations with a ship moored on the corner of Prins Hendrikkade and Binnenkant.

Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam not only gives hotel guests the opportunity to admire the interior, but also those who are interested in art and culture are given this opportunity during guided tours. The organization and execution of the guided tours is in the hands of Museum Het Schip.

The tour is organized every Sunday in the form of a package deal, which consists of a 1.5-hour tour of the building, and a delicious sandwich lunch with soup. This excludes drinks. Lunch starts at 1:00 PM.

Enjoy the beautiful Scheepvaarthuis/Grand Hotel Amrâth while enjoying a luxurious package. The tour with lunch starts at 11:30 am at Grand Hotel Amrâth, Prins Hendrikkade 108, 1011 AK Amsterdam.
