Explore new parts of Amsterdam!
Example program: Architecture cycle tour 'Eastern Docklands Amsterdam'
A completely different part of Amsterdam is for example the Eastern Docklands in Amsterdam. With our architecture guide you visit both Java- and KNSM island as well as the peninsulas Borneo and Sporenburg. There is much to see of international as well as Dutch architecture!
The first island we see up close is Java. The inspiration for the master plan for Java island came from the historic Amsterdam city center and its canals and succeeded in turning a long boring flat island into an exciting new residential area. The result is impressive. We follow a path along courtyards and canals, special bridges and extravagant facades.
We go on exploring KNSM island, where old and new buildings interact beautifully. In their designs, the architects to a large extent have taken into account the old harbour character of this island which resulted in architectural masterpieces of international allure.
We continue our bike tour and go to two peninsulas: Borneo and Sporenburg. In between a sea of low-rise one family houses are placed a number of so called meteorites: large sculptural building blocks with names as 'The Whale' and 'Pacman'. Also special on Borneo are a row of houses designed by private individuals and the red bridges of the architecture firm West 8.
After about 2 hours we end near CS Amsterdam or if you have brought your own (rental) bicycles, after consultation at a location of your choice.
Apart from this very nice bike tour we organize many more excursions in Amsterdam. Not far from the well-known city center of Amsterdam, away from the hustle and bustle you'll find new lively city districts where you can experience a beautiful mix of different impressions and atmospheres. Join us on a trip and (re)discover Amsterdam!
