Although the Houseboat Museum is unfortunately closed, there are plenty of special houseboats to admire (outside) in the city.
In 2014, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the “Hendrika Maria”, the ship on which the Houseboat Museum is located, a unique walk along special houseboats was put together with the cooperation of hiking journalist Bert Stok. The walk can be downloaded for free from our website (available in Dutch and English)
The walk consists of two parts and starts with the canal route (2 km), which answers frequently asked questions about living on the water. This is followed by the Amstel route (1.5 km) with nine special houseboats.
Respect the privacy of the houseboat residents during the walk.
