De Nieuwe KHL
The KHL Koffiehuis is one of the most notable monuments on the Oostelijke Handelskade – Amsterdam’s eastern waterfront, formerly home to grand warehouses and now transformed into a modern residential and business area.
KHL stands for the Koninklijke Hollandsche Lloyd shipping company, as
captains and maritime staff typically frequented this luxurious
café. These days, however, it’s more of a cultural
hangout. As well as being a picturesque spot to wine or dine, the
location is home to unique performances, jazz concerts and
’50s-inspired parties, such as those by Razzin’. This
monumental building can also be hired for weddings, meetings and other
private events.
