With a thriving film festival scene and a wealth of cinemas, Amsterdam is truly a city of film. A trip to the movies is extra special in Amsterdam. The city has some of the quirkiest independent film houses in Europe, showing both mainstream and arthouse flicks in a variety of languages. Amsterdam is also home to a number of notable film festivals and the seriously stunning EYE Filmmuseum (which is also a cinema). NB: Dutch cinemas screen nearly all films in their original language with Dutch subtitles.
