At The Green House, follow the journey from seed to fruit and vegetables on your plate. In the Technical Innovation Centre, get a glimpse into the future of greenhouse horticulture with robots and drones. Or discover sustainable housing made from natural and recycled materials. The opportunities for learning are endless.
See all sorts of trees, plants and flowers, fruit and vegetables in one placeFloriade is bursting with all types of green life, from abundant fruit crops to blossoming rose bushes, to vertical wall gardens and wild meadows. Dutch and international gardeners, farmers and horticulturists, and green innovators, have brought the cream of the crop to Floriade, and visitors will be amazed at the variety on show.
Go on an adventure
Reaching different areas of the Floriade park is easy, but for a faster way to get from one end to the other – and for spectacular views – step into the 850-metre-long cable car. Floating 35 metres up, you will enjoy a colourful view of the Floriade grounds. As well as transporting visitors in a novel way, the cable car aims to highlight a potential mode of sustainable transport for cities. For those with their feet on the ground, the Waterworld Tree Experience, a playful and interactive landscape, promises to bring out the adventurer in everyone.
Get a dose of art, culture and architecture
As well as a programme of exhibitions, live music, entertainment and orchestras, there is also plenty of contemporary art and installations to see. The Art Museum M, a uniquely designed floating building, showcases a fusion of architecture, art and nature, and offers multimedia and sensory experiences both inside and out. Rotterdam’s floating spectacle, The Bobbing Forest, has taken a temporary home in Almere for Floriade. This work of art by producer Mothership consists of 20 recycled sea buoys from the North Sea filled with 20 Dutch elms. The installation emphasises the importance of climate adaptation, innovation, health and greenery.
Floriade is an International Horticultural Exhibition that takes place in the Netherlands only once a decade. This year it will be held in Almere from 14 April to 9 October 2022. The expo focuses on trees, flowers, plants, vegetables, fruits and green innovations which all fit the theme ‘Growing Green Cities’.
Floriade will be open every day from 10:00 to 19:00
