• Take the train from Amsterdam Central Station to Zandvoort aan Zee. Walk to the city centre, where you can rent bikes for cycling the route

  • Ride along the boulevard to one of the many beach clubs and enjoy a drink.

  • Follow the road along the boulevard and through the dunes. With a bit of luck, you’ll see highland cattle. When you arrive at Zuid-Kennemerland National Park, you can leave your bike behind and go for a walk to enjoy the stunning landscape of the Dutch coast.

  • Visit the Duin & Kruidberg estate and look at the beautiful building. If you like, relax over a coffee or lunch

  • On your way back, cycle along the ruins of Brederode, a castle from the 13th century, and De Uitkijk, where you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view across the dunes. Stop for a break at Kraantje Lek before you head back to Zandvoort.

  • Racing enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the Circuit Park Zandvoort, which is nestled amid the dunes. Check their website for details on upcoming events, including the Grand Prix.

  • For something more relaxed, take a romantic stroll from Zandvoort to Bloemendaal aan Zee for cocktails and stunning sea views. Bloemendaal’s lively atmosphere and chill vibe makes it a hotspot for young locals and tourists looking to let loose. Bloemendaal has regular live bands and DJs performing at outdoor parties that go all night. You might find an event at Vroeger or the hippy hangout Woodstock 69.
  • End your day with a cold drink and a perfect sunset in one of the many beach clubs in Bloemendaal or Zandvoort, and spend the night at Qurios, or at one of the many other places.

  • Start off the next day with a refreshing dip in the ocean, or enjoy a stroll along the beach if it's too cold for a swim. 

  • Cycle to IJmuiden, which takes about an hour, or take the train (there is also a bus from Haarlem). Once there, join a Bunker Route walking tour, which takes in a number of impressive bunkers dotted around the dunes (book in advance). In good weather, pack a lunch and enjoy a picnic along the route. Fancy something exciting?
