Spot wildlife while cycling

The best way to explore the dunes is by bicycle and along the way there’s a whole range of wildlife to encounter. This unique area is home to over 200 different species of birds, rabbits, deer, wild horses and Scottish Highland cattle. To see as much as possible, the best route to take is through the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park from Zandvoort.

Discover WWII bunkers

As you ride through the dune landscape, you will also come across various bunkers left over from the Second World War. It's possible to book a private tour with a guide who will tell you everything about these impressive concrete structures as well as the local wildlife. Around here, there are also plenty of places to stop off for a scenic picnic.

Experience beautiful estates

This stretch of coastline is also home to several beautiful buildings and country estates, including those that are part of the elegant Duin & Kruidberg Estate. Stop for refreshments on the cafe terrace and imagine yourself as lord of the manor.
