Steak tartar, carpaccio, Caesar salad, oysters, tarte flambée; traditional French dishes fill the menu of contemporary brasserie de IJ-Kantine together with an American style hamburger, sea bass, chuck tender and spaghetti with fresh seafood. Full of both European tradition and influences from around the world, the IJ-Kantine’s menu perfectly reflects the heritage of the restaurant’s maritime surroundings.
Post-industrial hotspot in Amsterdam North
The ship-building glory days of the NDSM Wharf are still discernible in the area’s atmosphere and steel architecture, now transformed by artists, creative companies and unique events into the exciting hotspot that it is today. If you’re a fan of Berlin or Brooklyn, hop on a ferry (they’re free) and get ready to discover one of Amsterdam’s most colourful, hip and happening places.
Historical location for eating and drinking
Located on the banks of the IJ, in the former shipyard worker’s canteen, the IJ-Kantine is steeped in industrial history. And like the dock itself, the menu of the IJ-Kantine is wide and varied, serving dishes for every taste and budget.
Food is served from 9am until 11pm, with separate menus for breakfast, lunch, snacks, finger food and, of course, cocktails. So no matter what time of day you visit, you’ll always find something to enjoy. Little ones are very welcome here, with their own children’s menu for lunch and for dinner. And naturally, highchairs are available.
Flexible group dining options
IJ-Kantine’s chic, industrial space is perfect for group dining, with several menu options available to suit your wishes. Choose from lunch suggestions, a walking dinner, buffet, tour menus, or tailor-made menus, which are possible when you hire the IJ-Kantine exclusively. Allergies and special requests can always be taken into account.
Arriving by boat? Moor up at the restaurant’s private pontoon, where your boat can stay for as long as you do. And of course, The IJ-Katine is fully accessible for less mobile guests.
