Volksuniversiteit Amstelland
This adult education centre is located in Amstelveen, nearby Amsterdam, and offers numerous workshops and lectures (both in English and Dutch) in topics ranging from languages and ICT to arts and culture.
A wide range of topics
The Volksuniversiteit (literally: ‘people’s university’) Amstelland is an adult education centre where people can explore and develop their personal skills and abilities through a wide range of courses, workshops and training modules (both in English and Dutch). Each year it welcomes more than 2,500 students, amongst which are 500 non-Dutch speakers. Its portfolio includes language courses for 17 languages, courses in arts, history and culture, philosophy, computer skills, life drawing, photography and cooking, plus Dutch and English language courses for non-Dutch speakers, First Steps in Dutch, French and English.
