The IND is offering help to Venezuelans who are struggling to obtain or renew their national passport. Due to a paper and ink shortage in the Venezuelan passport office, its citizens are currently waiting months before being able to obtain new documents. This means that Venezuelans with ongoing Dutch residence applications could risk not being able to identify themselves with a valid national passport at the IND desk.
How the IND will help
To help prevent any problems with these applications, The IND is offering two temporary solutions. Venezuelans can identify themselves with their expired passport and a copy of their application to renew their passport, and the IND is also waiving its requirement to see a valid passport for Venezuelans who are applying for a renewed stay or changing their purpose of residence in the Netherlands.
