NEWSContinuation of cooperation between Expatcenter Amsterdam Area and the City of Hilversum
It has been announced that the collaboration between the City of Hilversum and the Expatcenter Amsterdam Area (ECAA) is set to continue. This decision follows a successful pilot project undertaken between the two parties, which launched in October 2013.
Businesses and highly skilled migrants (expats) based in Hilversum can continue to benefit from the dedicated services offered by the Expatcenter. In just one visit to the Expatcenter, a highly skilled migrant can arrange all of the necessary affairs to get started in the Netherlands. This includes registration in the municipal personal records database (at their residence or work address), arranging a personal public service number (BSN), residence permit and documentation, and also completing applications for the 30% tax ruling.Compliance alert: Stricter monitoring of registration at company's address
Since the Expatcenter Amsterdam opened in 2008, we have offered companies the opportunity to register international employees at the company's address. As a result, employees who do not yet have a fixed residential address can still quickly obtain their personal public service number (BSN). The employer is required to grant permission to use the business address for such registrations. They must complete ‘Address registration form - A’, which is also a declaration that the employer is aware of and agrees to the associated terms and conditions (listed below).
- The employer is responsible for ensuring all correspondence received at this address reaches the employee.
- The employer guarantees that the employee will inform the municipality of a change of address within 5 working days after moving to a new residence.
- The employer is aware of the fact that it is only a temporary measure, valid for a maximum of three months.
Unfortunately, these conditions have not always been met. In too many cases, employees remained registered at the company's address for a longer period than permitted. Such infractions risk that our right to register employees at a company's address could be revoked. It would be undesirable for all parties if the Expatcenter were to lose this flexibility.
Thus, moving forward, we will monitor such registrations more stringently and maintain a record of businesses in violation of these terms. This means that in such cases, no new employees can be registered at a company’s address until their list of temporary registrations has been cleared.Holiday season closing dates

Christmas celebrations with Amsterdam Mamas, 7 December 2014
In the winters of 2012 and 2013, Amsterdam Mamas celebrated the holiday season with a special Santa Tram event. Families sang Christmas carols and mingled as the historic trams gently bumped their way to the Amsterdamse Bos and back again in the low winter sun. This year the popular event returns, with the vintage tram rides joined by a Christmas market, photos with Santa Claus, face painting, carolling, arts & crafts and storytelling. Due to the popularity of the event, tickets for the historic tram rides are unfortunately already sold out. However, families are invited to join for the remainder of the programming, which promises to be a magical day out for young and old alike.
Join the fun on 7 December 2014 at the Electrische Museumtramlijn Amsterdam, located at the Haarlemmermeerstation, Amstelveenseweg 264, 1075 XV Amsterdam. For more information see the Amsterdam Mamas website.
