With a master in Marketing Communications and a Bachelor in Communication & Journalism, Mariken worked in various consumer marketing positions at L’Oréal and Beiersdorf (NIVEA) after graduating. In her spare time she worked as a consultant for several social enterprises on their marketing, branding and retail strategies.
Attracting corporates, startups, social enterprises and talent
At Amsterdam Marketing, she leads the positioning of the Amsterdam Area as an international business region with the objective to attract corporates, startups, social enterprises and talent to the region, which is essential for innovation, talent development and employment opportunities.
Mariken is responsible for the development of the new business proposition, marketing strategy and campaign for Amsterdam as a business hub. Furthermore, she leads all marketing activities to position Amsterdam internationally as a business hub. She developed the marketing campaign in London to position Amsterdam as an alternative to Brexit. She was also responsible for the international living campaign focused at positioning the Amsterdam Area as a region to live based on the unique characteristics of the different areas within the region. Next to this, Mariken is involved with many activities to promote social entrepreneurs and to give them a central part in the marketing activities.
A wealth of experience
Mariken works closely together with the department of Economic Affairs of the City of Amsterdam, the neighbouring municipalities and international corporates and startups. She has a wealth of experience in bringing public and private partners together.
