Geerte Udo, CEO of amsterdam&partners: “We are very pleased that Dennis is going to fill this position and will strengthen our organisation. With his extensive international experience and network, he will play an important role in profiling Amsterdam with the team in collaboration with our partners as a sustainable and innovative conference city. The focus is on attracting conferences that add value to the city along with its entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions, residents and companies. Dennis will succeed Claudia Wehmeijer, who over the past three years has played an important role to attract and link several congresses to the metropolis. Claudia also founded the convention bureau and initiated the recently approved 2021-2024 Conference Plan and we thank her for her enormous commitment to the project and company.”

Dennis Speet, Director of Meetings & Conventions: “This is a fantastic opportunity to represent the Amsterdam Convention Bureau and, together with the team, the partners and all stakeholders, to put Amsterdam on the international map as we connect meetings to the city. Association conferences play an important role in bringing together attendees, companies, talent and research institutes whilst stimulating collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing. I look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future."

Dennis Speet will implement the strategic multi-year Plan for Amsterdam Congress City 2021 - 2024. This strategy ensures that Amsterdam continues on its trajectory to become one of the most important conference cities in Europe with a particular focus on sustainability and innovation. Amsterdam mainly focuses on conferences in the Life Sciences & Health sectors (such as the 2023 Cardiologists Conference), Tech, sustainability, FinTech and the creative industries.
