Dial the 14 020 Amsterdam helpline
The City of Amsterdam has a central information number, 14 020. The idea behind the service is to provide a single point for all Amsterdam residents and businesses to get the most up-to-date, accurate information from the municipality. Frequently asked questions about topics such as construction, marriage ceremonies, parking tariffs, taxes and other civic matters will be answered directly; for specialist topics, staff can transfer callers to the relevant department. The service can also be used to register complaints. The helpline is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00. The service is also available to English speakers – simply select English from the automated menu at the start of your call.
If you are calling from abroad please dial +31 20 624 1111.
The City of Amsterdam has also added WhatsApp to its means of communication. Residents who use the WhatsApp mobile or desktop app can contact the municipality by sending a message to 06 4444 0655. An employee of the City will reply at the earliest possible moment between 08:00 and 18:00 from Monday to Friday. Please note, Amsterdammers making use of this service are requested not to send sensitive data as part of their question. If further information is required, the representative will inform you of the next steps to take.
