Large crowds gathering

The official victory celebrations will take place between 16:00 and 17:30. The space for the public on Museumplein will be opened from 13:00 onwards. Past experiences have shown that these occasions attract large crowds, and considering Ajax’ accomplishments this season, the City, police, club and representatives of local residents and businesses are expecting similar or bigger turnouts to those in the past and are cooperating closely to ensure the celebrations are safe and well-organised.

Reduced access to Museumplein

The Museumplein square and its surrounding area will be closed off to cars, bikes and possibly people, if the area gets too crowded.  Amsterdam.nl has a handy map (in Dutch) that shows the areas that will be blocked off. The museums may be also closed or adjust their opening times. Please check the museums’ websites for more information.

Safety walls

To minimise disruption to local residents and businesses, the streets around Museumplein will be policed and partly closed off. Residents and employees of local businesses may be required to show identification or proof of address to gain access. So-called safety walls will be placed around the square. These walls may be closed to incomers in the case of overcrowding. Visitors wanting to gain access at one of the four entry points may be subject to security checks and searches.

Public transport disruptions and closures

Today there will be no trams or buses on the square in front of the Royal Concertgebouw. Trams 3 and 12 will be suspended all day and various bus lines will be on diversion. Cars should avoid the Museumplein and the surrounding area. For more information, see www.gvb.nl and www.amsterdam.nl/ajax (in Dutch).
