Turning off the gas
The City of Amsterdam’s campaign to make Amsterdam more sustainable includes banning all heating and cooking with gas by 2050. To reward homeowners who are already taking steps towards a gas-free home, the City has made five million euros available to be given out as subsidies.
Applying for subsidies
From 1 September 2017, homeowners can apply for an individual subsidy of up to €5,000 for removing their gas connection, regardless of what alternatives they switch to. These may include heat pumps or a connection to a district heating network and using induction or other electric stoves for cooking. See this page (in Dutch) for more information.
