EuroPride in Amsterdam
In summer 2016, Amsterdam’s Pride celebrations take on an extra dimension with EuroPride. To avoid disturbances for residents and to ensure things are running smoothly, the City of Amsterdam is taking measures such as closing canal-side roads for traffic and limiting boating on the Prinsengracht.
On Saturday, 6 August – the day of the Canal Parade – no cars may be parked on the sides of Prinsengracht, Nieuwe Herengracht and Schippersgracht. There are exemptions for disabled parking spaces and those next to houseboats. Holders of parking permits will receive a letter with information about alternative options.
Other measures include a ban of boat traffic on Prinsengracht on the day of the Canal Parade between 20:00 to 8:00 on the following morning, events on Westermarkt being reduced from three to two days (Friday and Saturday), earlier event bar closing times, increased police presence and additional portable toilets and rubbish bins and a large-scale clean-up on the day after the Canal Parade.
